Bees provide an exciting and practical way for students to explore science, sustainability, food production and the natural environment. Our school programs give young Western Australians the opportunity to learn about honey bees, beekeeping and the important role bees play in our environment and food systems.
We work with Western Australian schools to provide practical, curriculum-connected experiences for both students and staff.
We offer a range of options that can be tailored to suit your school, including:
Introducing students to honey bees, beekeeping, pollination, hive life and the importance of bees.
Providing teachers with the knowledge and confidence to incorporate bees and beekeeping into classroom learning.
Including delivery and establishment of beehives at your school.
Providing staff with practical instruction in basic hive maintenance during a dedicated on-site visit.
With links to the Australian Curriculum and relevant learning objectives to support teachers in incorporating the program into their teaching and learning plans.
A school beehive can become a living classroom, providing students with opportunities to observe and investigate real-world examples of life cycles, ecosystems, biodiversity, pollination, sustainability, food production and environmental stewardship.
Our programs are designed to encourage curiosity, practical learning and a deeper understanding of the natural world, while giving students and staff meaningful experiences with one of nature’s most fascinating insects.
