Starting beekeeping can be both exciting and challenging.

There is much more to successful beekeeping than simply purchasing a hive and a colony of bees. Understanding bee behaviour, hive management, seasonal changes, equipment, safety and responsible bee husbandry is an important part of becoming a confident beekeeper.

That is why Buzzing Bees Community also provides training, practical demonstrations and hands-on guidance for hobbyist, amateur and developing beekeepers.

Our aim is to help people build practical knowledge and confidence so they can better understand their bees and manage their hives responsibly.

Beehive Installation

For customers who are new to beekeeping or need assistance establishing a new apiary, we provide beehive installation services.

We can assist with setting up new beehives and establishing an appropriate starting point for your beekeeping journey.

Our approach is practical and focused on helping customers understand not only what equipment they need, but also how the hive and its inhabitants should be managed.

Beekeeping Education for Schools and Agricultural Colleges

We are particularly passionate about introducing young people and students to the fascinating world of bees.

Buzzing Bees Community provides beekeeping education, training and practical demonstrations for schools, Agricultural Colleges and other educational organisations.

Our educational activities can introduce students to different aspects of beekeeping and provide opportunities to learn about:

• The life of honey bees
• The organisation of a bee colony
• The role of the queen, workers and drones
• Hive equipment and its purpose
• Beekeeping tools and protective equipment
• Hive inspections
• Bee behaviour
• Honey and other hive products
• The importance of bees in agriculture and food production
• Responsible beekeeping practices
• Practical aspects of managing a beehive

Where appropriate, students can gain practical exposure to beekeeping under suitable supervision and with appropriate safety procedures.

We believe hands-on learning can create a deeper understanding and appreciation of bees and their important role in our agricultural and natural environment.

Our Approach

At Buzzing Bees Community, we value knowledge, practical experience, safety and responsible beekeeping.

We understand that every beekeeper is at a different stage of their journey. Some customers may be purchasing their very first hive, while others may be looking for equipment, bees or practical support for an established apiary.

We strive to provide helpful products, practical information and services that meet customers where they are.

We also recognise that bees are living creatures and that responsible beekeeping requires care, patience, observation and continuous learning.
