Step 1:Â Use dosing spoon to place oxalic acid powder onto vaporizer which is cool.
Step 2: Ignite the gas burner, then adjust the flame size to the lowest setting, allowing the vaporizer to warm up slowly. (Please do not increase the flame.ďź
Step 3:At the appropriate temperature the OA crystals start to sublime (go from a solid to a gas), white smoke will come out.
Step 4:Insert the vaporizer into the entrance of the beehive to allow the smoke of vaporized oxalic acid to enter the hive.
 –
With the vaporization method of application, oxalic acid dehydrate
crystals are heated using our specialized application device until they
liquefy and vaporize. Oxalic acid vapor fills the hive and all the bees
and hive interior surfaces are covered with a very thin layer of oxalic
acid dehydrate crystals during sublimation. While bees tolerate these
fine crystals, they are toxic to the Varroa mites.
Please keep in mind:
1. It
is crucial to prioritize safety and protect yourself with appropriate
respiratory protection and personal protective equipment.Â
2. It is recommended toapply approximately4 g OA/colonyat a 5-or 7-day treatment interval.
3. Oxalic
acid is most effective during broodless periods, and often applied in
late fall or over the winter. But your timing may vary depending on your
local climate.
4. If the pipe is blocked due to overheating, please heat the surface with fire.
